God’s Perfect Timing
Tenth Day of Advent
God’s timing is rarely our timing. We often think we’re ready when we’re not—and sometimes we think it’s too late when it isn’t.
Elizabeth believed her season for bearing children had long since passed, but she was not past God’s time. When she realized she was expecting, she declared, “Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”
On the other side of the story, Mary thought it was before her time—but it was right on time for God. When the angel told her she would bear a child, she asked, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” Yet after hearing the angel’s explanation, her heart surrendered in faith: “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”
God always keeps His promises and delivers His people. The path He chooses for us may not follow the route we expect, nor do we always arrive when we plan to. Sometimes He takes us on the long, winding, scenic road; other times He leads us by a sudden shortcut. But if He has promised, we can rest assured—He will do it.
Heaven and earth may pass away, but His word will never pass away.
