Adam, Eve and Advent
Fifteenth Day of Advent
Perhaps even Adam and Eve celebrated advent. Immediately after the fall of man, God promises to send His Son. God said to Satan: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Gen. 3:15). From that point forward, Adam and Eve must have anticipated the fulfillment of God’s promise of a Savior. God keeps all of His promises because it is His nature to be a covenant-keeping God. And so, the coming of Christ was a fait accompli. “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” (Deut. 7:9). From then on, all of God’s people trusted in His promise and looked ahead to that glorious day of His coming. Abraham saw Christ’s day and rejoiced (John 8:56).
